Dear iarigai Member,
It is our great pleasure to inform you in brief about the iarigai activities during the past months from October 2017 as well as to announce the upcoming events.
45th iarigai Conference 2018, Warsaw, Poland, October 3 – 7
The 45th International scientific Conference of iarigai in 2018 will be organized at the Department of Printing Technology of the Warsaw University of Technology in Warsaw, Poland from October 3 – 7, 2018 by the Conference Directors Prof. Georgij Petriaszwili and Prof. Zuzanna Żołek-Tryznowska. The extension for the Extended Abstract submission deadline was announced a few days ago, it is prolonged until the February 28. This year’s conference topics are as follows:
- Graphic Design
- Work Flow and Colour Management
- Innovative substrates, coatings and other materials for printing
- Printed functionality
- Printing processes and products − industrial processes and product development
- 3D Printing
- Green printing
- Security printing
- Packaging engineering
- Prints quality
In March the review process will take place. For those kindly assisting in the important task of reviewing the submissions, approached by the Conference Technical Programme Committee, for the benefit of scientific level of the conference, thank you!
The novelty of this year’s Conference is the collocation with the IC Conference. Responsible groups from both Associations, the Board and Conference committee from the iarigai side and the Presidium and Conference Committee from the IC side, work hard with the hosts to structure the sessions and ensure all the participants will enjoy the joint event. High expectations are set for a similar cooperation in the upcoming years.

New web site
The new iarigai web site has been launched successfully, thanks to a great effort from Mr. Fons Put, with help from Dr. Gorazd Golob and other Board members. However, it is still in the early stages of operation and as data is continually being uploaded, the site becomes increasingly more functional! Visit the new web site and get your own impression!
Board meeting in November 2017
In November 2017 the Board meeting took place at the Department of Printing Technology of the Warsaw University of Technology in Warsaw, Poland hosted by the Conference Directors Prof. Georgij Petriaszwili and Prof. Zuzanna Żołek-Tryznowska, the Dean of the Faculty of Production Engineering Prof. Andrzej Kolasa as well as by the IC Conference host Dr. Joanna Izdebska Podsiadty.
As well as covering the preparations for the upcoming Conference in Warsaw and indepth discussions with the IC Presidium members regarding the options of conference collocation, the Board accepted the Final Conference Report for the 44th iarigai Conference in Fribourg, with compliments to Conference director Prof. Fritz Bircher and his team!
The majority of other issues discussed during the Board meeting are presented as separate chapters of this Newsletter.
Publishing issues
The iarigai Journal of Print and Media Technology Research continues to be published regularly in digital form. The Advances are also published in digital form and both are password-protected, available at www.iarigai.com
Dr. Gorazd Golob, Editor-in-Chief together with Dr. Markéta Držková, Associate Editor invite the whole iarigai community for their support in respect to contributing manuscript submissions for the benefit of the Journal and the Association in general, thank you!
iarigai Research Grant
IRG – iarigai Research Grant Call for Applications for 2018 has been open during September and October 2017. The Board evaluated and approved the Workplan for one study visit application from Germany to the UK, more details will be published once the Grant is used.
Events under auspices of iarigai
The Printing Future Days 2017 Conference took place from 4 – 6 October 2017 in Chemnitz, Germany, once again under the auspices of iarigai. The fruitful cooperation continued with iarigai being represented by Editor-in-Chief Dr. Gorazd Golob. Dr. Golob was chairing the election of the Best Paper of the Conference, ending with three awards in different categories: The best paper presentation Award was given to Evelyn Lorenz, master student from Technische Universität Chemnitz for the presentation: Evelyn Lorenz, Kalyan Yoti Mitra, Enrico Sowade, Bruno Heimke and Reinhard R. Baumann: Investigation on inkjet-printed bypass diodes for thin film organic photovoltaic; The best poster presentation Award was given to Abdelrahman Alalawe from TU Chemnitz; The MicroFLEX Award for the most promising application was given to Mustafa Bilgin from Bergische Universität Wuppertal, who had already presented a paper at the iarigai Conference in Fribourg in 2017.
Mrs. Evelyn Lorentz is awarded by admittance free of charge to the next year’s iarigai Conference in Warsaw in 2018, congratulations!
